This album features my new hand-made Davidic Lyre (made by Marini Made Harps)..its magical sound may have once soothed Saul, but my cat next to me here, certainly did not seem to think much of it!!! ;o)

This "Harp" is in fact a lyre, as were all the the Biblical "harps" - ie the strings pass over a bridge, as opposed to entering the body of the instrument, as on a true harp. The 10-string Biblical lyre, known in ancient Hebrew as the "Kinnor" (which in modern Hebrew, now means "violin"), was once played by my very own, very ancient Levite ancestors in the Temple of Jerusalem over 2000 years ago, to accompany the singing of the Levitical Choir - now THAT'S what I call "Roots Music"!

The Kinnor is mentioned throughout the pages of the Hebrew Bible, as well as in the writings of the 1st century Jewish Historian, Flavius Josephus, who actually witnessed the Levites play their lyres in the Temple of Jersualem - for full details on the fascinating history of the ancient Biblical lyres, please see the "Historical Research" section of my website:
