הצדיק רבי שלמה מקרלין היה עני מרוד. כאשר שאלו אותו ממה הוא מתפרנס, השיב שיש לו "צְוֵוי קִי" (באידיש) - פירוש הדבר שיש לו שתי פרות. זה בכל זאת משהו... אבל לבסוף התברר שאין לרבי שלמה אפילו חצי פרה, ואז הסביר שהוא התכוון לשתי המלים "כִּי" בפסוק "כי בו ישמח לבנו כי בשם קדשו בטחנו"...
הניגון הנוכחי הותאם גם לפסוק שנקרא "שירת הפרגיות" בפרק שירה - "בטחו בה' עדי עד כי בי-ה ה' צור עולמים". הפרגיות מסתובבות בחצר ומרגישות בטוחות, יש לנו כל מה שצריך.

A Melody with a Song: Ahiya Cohen with another melody by Rabbi Ginsburgh

The tzaddik Rabbi Shlomo of Karlin lived in severe poverty. When asked about the source of his livelihood, he once answered, “Tzvei ki”, which is Yiddish for “two cows”. It soon became clear, however, that Rabbi Shlomo didn’t even have half a cow. Rabbi Shlomo explained that he was not referring to cows at all, but rather to the twice-repeated Hebrew word, ki, in the verse: “Ki vo yismach libeinu, ki v’shem kodsho batachnu” – For in Him our hearts will be joyous, for we trust in His Holy Name”. The source of Rabbi Shlomo’s livelihood was his trust in G-d.

This melody dovetails with the verse called the “Song of the Spring Chickens” in Perek Shirah: “Bitchu BaHashem adei ad ki b’Y-ah Hashem tzur olamim” – “Trust in Hashem forever, for in Y-ah Havayah is the everlasting rock.” The spring chickens feel absolutely safe in their surroundings, for they have all that they need.
