"During Hisbodedus a number of years ago, I sat listing my regular litany of requests from the Master of the world; health, joy, yishuv hadaas, success in learning, good friends etc. Suddenly, I was struck with the realization that at the deepest core, a Jew only truly has one request - "Korveini Eliecha, Ribbono Shel Olam, please bring me close to you!" Wherever we go, whatever we do, whatever we are davening for - kol hayom, the entire day - all of our expressions are merely a form of this desperate plea for closeness with our Lover in heaven.

As I pondered this essential prayer, it manifested in these words and this sweet niggun. May Hashem answer this essential plea!"
