The album Tal Yasis is an assortment of dreamy, relaxed melodies - mostly those attributed to the Lubavitcher Rebbe, and they don't demand that you take special notice. Perfect music for a quiet evening at home or a long drive at night. On your first listen or two this album seems to be no more than pleasant background music. And it certainly can be that.
But if that's all you got it would be a shame indeed.
Tal Yasis (the title of the album) meaning "let the dew sweeten", is a tender collaboration between two musicians who love and respect each other and each other's playing. Drawing from Chassidic nigunim (melodies), it is an expression of the depth and beauty of life. Every track has a sense of dignity, and warmheartedness that is genuinely touching. The "soul" of the album may be a "spiritual" angle, a gem of yearning and passion. This is an album to relish.
