Blind and deaf writer and social activist Helen Keller, enjoys a musical evening among friends. Her teacher Anne Sullivan, and companion Polly Thomson also appear in the film. From the 1919 silent film about Helen Keller, titled "Deliverance". Transcript and video description : The video opens with the caption "An evening with friends and song". The first scene shows a woman in a long dress seated at a tall harp, playing it. Helen Keller is standing next to the harp with another woman. They are both wearing long dresses, their hair is tied behind their heads in a bun. Helen is reading the woman's lips with her hand. A golden retriever dog lying on the floor looks up.The caption reads, " Helen hears every word accurately through her finger tips". Helen continues to read the woman's lips. The following caption says, "Helen cannot hear a sound, yet she is thrilled by the rhythmic vibrations felt through her finger tips". The next scene shows Helen standing in a formal drawing room. Anne Sullivan and Polly Thomson stand near by. Next to Helen, a man plays the piano, a man plays a violin and a woman plays a harp. There are several well dressed guests. Helen is moving her hand in front of herself, as if she's keeping time to the music. The music ends and Helen shakes hands with the pianist and the violinist. Anne leads Helen to the tall harp. Helen touches the carved wooden frame of the harp. Then she feels the strings and plucks a few as the other guests watch her. A woman speaks to Helen and Anne Sullivan. Helen speaks to the woman. The caption reads, " It transports me to the very gates of paradise. Music vibrates through my being in waves of divine Harmony. Sweet vibrations that make the silence live." The next caption says "Helen remembers her friends by their handshake. Recognizing their grasp as readily as others might recall a face." Helen and Anne shake hands with some gentlemen and leave the room. The video ends.
