Weekly shiur by the Rosh Yeshiva - Rabbi David Pendel

הרב דוד פנדל נולד וגדל בעיירה ווסט המפסטד בלונג איילנד בניו יורק. אביו, הרב מאיר פנדל היה רב, ואחר כך מייסד ומנהל בית הספר הדתי בעיירה. בצעירותו, בעת שאביו ומשפחתו בילו שנת שבתון בארץ, למד בחטיבת ביניים של ישיבת חורב בשנת הלימודים תשל"ד - שנת מלחמת יום הכיפורים. עלה לישראל בגיל 17, ולמד בישיבות שעלבים, מרכז הרב, ומיר ושירת בצה"ל בחיל התותחנים.

הרב פנדל הקים ועומד בראשות ישיבת אפיקי דעת המונה כ-400 תלמידים, כמו כן הוא הקים שתי שלוחות, ישיבת "לב לדעת" בשדרות וישיבת דרך חיים בקריית גת. במסגרת הישיבה מפעיל הרב פנדל פרויקטים חברתיים של סיוע לתושבי שדרות. הרב הוא חבר באיחוד הרבנים למען ארץ ישראל.

Rabbi David Pendel was born and raised in West Hampstead, Long Island, New York. His father, Rabbi Meir Pendel was a rabbi, and later the founder and principal of the religious school in the town. In his youth, when his father and his family spent a sabbatical year in Israel, he studied at the Horev junior high school during the 1973 Yom Kippur War, immigrated to Israel at the age of 17 and studied at the Shaalvim, Merkaz Harav and Mir Yeshiva.

Rabbi Pendel founded and heads the Afikei Daat Yeshivah, which has about 400 students. He also established two branches, the Lev Levith yeshiva in Sderot and the Derech Hayim yeshiva in Kiryat Gat. In the framework of the meeting, Rabbi Pendel operates social projects of assistance to the residents of Sderot. The rabbi is a member of the Union of Rabbis for the Land of Israel.
