About courage and inner strength - a short story

Dina was an elderly woman, who suffered from a chronic illness that limited her movements.
She was a simple and kind-hearted woman who lived in a small apartment in a big city.

She liked to walk in the city park,
enjoy the fresh air
and the warm rays of the sun.

Dina used to walk slowly along the paths of the park, while listening to the chirping of the birds and the laughter of the children.

On one of the walks in the park she saw from afar,
A little boy, walking around alone when a stranger ran past him, who came up to him and held his hand tightly.

Dina was worried about the child, she knew she had to do something, but she didn't know what?!
She came to her senses for a moment, took a deep breath and shouted with all the strength she had
stop that!

The stranger, tall and broad, was surprised by the shout, turned around and said angrily: "What do you want old woman?"

Dina didn't answer and continued walking slowly towards him. She knew she was weak against him
And yet she continued to approach him.

The stranger gave her a menacing look, but she was unmoved.
She looked deep into his eyes and said: "I'm not afraid of you!"

The stranger was surprised by Dina's reaction, and thought to himself:
"Outwardly it appears to be a frail old woman
But courage and a strong inner strength burst out of her."
He lowered his eyes: "I'm sorry, I didn't want to scare you."

Dina smiled at him: "It's okay. Now I understand that you're not a bad-hearted person"

He smiled back and stroked the boy's head: I'm his father, he disappeared for a long time and when I saw him, I ran to him in a storm of emotions, I held his hand so he wouldn't disappear again, and meanwhile you're yelling at me to stop.

Thank you for taking care of my son.

The father and son went home.
Dina stayed in the park.
A little tired, but also happy.
She smiled to herself: in another place on another day everything could have been different.
Inside she knew she did the right thing.
